Literacy India,(www.literacyindia.org) the mother lode of Indha Craft, was founded in 1996 as a non-profit organization with the objective of educating underprivileged women and children and empowering them to become self-reliant. The vision is to equip them with basic education and also identify, nurture and develop their latent talent and skills thereby empowering them and increasing their employability quotient.
Indha was started by Literacy India as an offshoot of Project “Karigari” – a platform under which Literacy India trained over 10,000 women were later turned into skilled Artisans. Right now we have 300 plus artisans fully engaged
The Brand Indha has become a brand name for those who appreciate traditional skills; genuine Hand made products, which are created, not procured.
The Producers Indha Craft offers hundreds of unique designs, few in numbers, to create exclusivity, and which generate a living for skilled, but marginalized women, helping them to dare to dream once again Indha is an all-encompassing mission for rural women to grow and become better each year, bringing the work of remote communities into the mainstream pool of products.
