Tara Scholars: Inspiring for a Brighter Future
In memory of my mother
Tara, who was indeed my guiding “Star”, I initiated the “Tara Scholars” program
to support the underprivileged students asssociated with Literacy India,
towards accomplishing their academic and life goals.
Literacy India is
already doing a commendable job in educating the underprivileged children
through their various programmes offered at their 50 centres across the country. I am aiming to dedicate
my personal mentoring time and commit financial support as required to a bunch
of deserving students. Currently. I am engaging with four class 12
Students, whom I picked up based on
their academic performance, family circumstances and my personal interaction with each to
validate their commitment to their respective goals.
Swati aims to
be a Doctor, a student in the
11th grade, is the daughter of a Security Guard who finds it tough to even provide
food and shelter to his family of five, yet has hopes from Swati to turn the
fortunes around for them. Focused on Science (PCB),Swati dreams of becoming a Doctor.
Swati attended the Pathshala program at Literacy India, which acclerated her learning
journey. The program has provided her with the necessary resources and coaching
to excel in her studies. Swati’s determination, coupled with her family's
unwavering support, fuel her ambition.
Niharika,
aspires to be a Chartered Accountant. Her father is a greengrocer(vegetable
and fruit seller),who has to support a family of six. Despite the financial hardship,
the parents give top priority to Niharika’s education. Engaging in programs
like GYANTANTRA Pathshala, and Certificate in Computer Applications at Literacy
India Niharika has significantly bolstered her academic journey. The support
from Literacy India has equipped her with essential resources, and guided her through obstacles , keeping her focused on
the goals.
Mansi wants to
be a Software Engineer.Her father
works as a “Helper”, earning a meagre Ten thousand per month; too little to manage a family of six,However the family remains unanimous in
supporting Mansi towards her dream to become a Software Engineer.Swati, from
the time she was in grade 5, has been actively engaged in various programmes of
Literacy India, which have been instrumental in her academic development. She is
also part of the “Coding and Tinkering” programs. Mansi is inquisitive, always questioning
the technical aspects of things and events around her.
Jafrin wants
to make a career in Banking , has
therefore chosen Commerce with Mathematics. Residing in Bijwasan for over a
decade, she lives with her family of seven in extremely tough conditions. Her
father, Mohammad Naseen, works as a tailor. However It is amazing to see the family's
unwavering support to Jafrin's pursuits.Jafrin's educational journey has been
enriched through her involvement in various programs at Literacy India. She has
completed her academic journey through Pathshala and also learned basic
computer skills, which have significantly contributed to her academic and
personal development. With a clear goal of building a career in banking, she is
determined to turn around her family circumstances through hard work and determination.
It is such a
humbling experience interacting with these students and watching their optimism
and confiednce grow . I feel rather privileged that I got this oppotrunity.I
will be eagerly looking forward to the
day when these students would accomplish their goals.. That would be such a gratifying
moment, indeed a befitting ode to my mother..
The stories of
Swati Niharika Jafrin and Mansi are testament of the transformative power of Institution
and community support. Despite the challenges , they remain committed to
achieving their dreams, inspiring many young girls facing similar obstacles in
their life,to pursue their aspirations
