Once upon a time, in the arid lands of Jhalawar, Rajasthan, the remarkable Kathidia tribe thrived, possessing a unique cultural heritage that shaped their customs, traditions, and way of life. With vibrant attire and traditional art forms, they add a splash of colour to Rajasthan’s cultural diversity. The tribe shares a deep historical connection with the local kings and soldiers, serving as loyal warriors throughout the centuries, defending Jhalawar and leaving an indelible mark on the region’s defence.
Today, the Kathidia tribe continues to survive in extreme poverty and illiteracy, yet upholding ancestral traditions. Their vibrant festivals, spirited dances, and captivating music echo through the desert winds, weaving their stories into the cultural tapestry of Rajasthan. As Literacy India embarked on their mission to empower these marginalized communities, it discovered the Kathidia tribe residing on the outskirts of several villages.
Ramesh Kathodiya is an esteemed, elderly priest within the tribe. He is a revered figure whose wisdom resonates with the entire community.
When Ramesh learned of Literacy India’s plan to establish a learning center, hope and happiness filled his heart. He envisioned a future where the younger generation, including his own grandchildren, would gain knowledge and understanding beyond the tribe’s boundaries. He saw the opportunity for the children to cherish their heritage while acquiring the skills needed to navigate the modern world.
With the support of Long time Donor, Literacy India embarked on their mission to build a dedicated learning center for the Kathidia tribe. This collaborative effort aims to uplift the community that faces deep poverty, providing educational opportunities to empower their children and break the cycle of hardship. The upcoming centre is a beacon of hope, illuminating a path toward a brighter future where the Kathidia tribe’s rich history would be preserved and the young minds equipped with the tools to shape their destiny.
