In a world where technology is reshaping every aspect of our lives, Literacy India, in partnership with FIDTR, is ensuring that the next generation doesn’t just watch the skies—they conquer them. Recently, an awareness seminar organized across Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Jharkhand opened the eyes of young minds to the thrilling career prospects in the burgeoning field of drone technology. The response? Let’s just say, our participants are buzzing with excitement.
Drones, once the stuff of science fiction, have quickly become indispensable tools in sectors ranging from agriculture to surveillance. During the seminar, participants were given a front-row seat to the possibilities that this cutting-edge technology offers. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing newfound enthusiasm for careers they hadn’t even considered before.
But the seminar was just the beginning. We’re gearing up for a new batch of eager learners who will soon be exploring the skies, with a particular focus on real-world applications. In Purulia, West Bengal, drones will be deployed for forest management and surveillance, ensuring that our green spaces are protected and monitored with the latest technology. Meanwhile, on the agricultural front, these high-flyers will be crucial in revolutionizing crop spraying techniques. Whether it’s human-led spraying in hard-to-reach areas or machinery-based solutions using advanced drones, the possibilities are as vast as the farmlands themselves.
The impact of this initiative isn’t confined to just one region. In Jharkhand, we’re mobilizing a fresh group of youth, eager to take flight and explore the endless possibilities that drone technology offers. From forest management to enhancing agricultural productivity, the skies of Jharkhand are set to be abuzz with innovation and progress.
As we build on this momentum, we’re not stopping at agriculture and forestry. Our initiative has also taken flight in Delhi NCR, where 20 youth currently undergoing Mobilize Journalism (MOJO) training are set to explore the potential of drone technology. A visit to a drone factory and training site is on the agenda for the coming week, offering them a unique chance to see the nuts and bolts—literally—of how these aerial marvels are made and mastered.
This hands-on experience will not only broaden their technical skills but will also open doors to new career and entrepreneurial opportunities. Whether they choose to report on drone innovations or use drones to capture news from perspectives previously unimaginable, the sky is no longer the limit—it’s just the beginning.
So, as we launch this next phase of drone training, we’re thrilled to see where these young explorers will take us. One thing’s for sure—the future is taking off, and we’re ready to soar right along with it.
Since 1996, every Independence Day at Literacy India has grown more extensive and vibrant. Our journey reflects the diversity of our nation, yet the spirit of unity and patriotism shines through year after year. This year, thousands of students and teachers came together, participating in various activities to celebrate the occasion.
From the bustling streets of Salkia and Chingrighata in Kolkata, to the serene forest landscapes of Lowakui and Pratappur in Purulia, to the lively communities of Bijwasan in Delhi, and Bajghera, Gupta Colony, Dharam Colony, and Carterpuri in Gurgaon—each place echoed with the same enthusiasm. Some joined the Independence Day Foot March, proudly carrying the tricolour. Others took to cycling, their bikes adorned with flags, as they pedaled with pride. Cultural programs brought out the rich tapestry of our heritage, and in true patriotic spirit, many chose to participate in a cleaning drive, contributing to a cleaner, greener India.
In addition to these on-ground activities, thousands logged into the Ministry of Culture’s site, sharing their selfies with the Tiranga and proudly receiving their Har Ghar Tiranga certificates. This digital celebration added another layer to our collective pride and unity.
These teachers and students carried their belief of being one nation, one people, though they hailed from different regions like Manoharthana and Indore Village in Rajasthan. Their faces and cultures may differ, but their hearts beat as one, united under the same flag.
