Coding 101: Students unravelling the mysteries of code!

Coding Revolution: At Gyantantra, we’re revolutionizing education by empowering students with future-ready skills through an engaging coding program. Partnering with Code.org, we’ve created a dynamic curriculum that’s shaping tomorrow’s tech leaders.

The Journey of Implementation: Our coding adventure at Gyantantra kicked off with lessons on Digital Citizenship, where students explored online safety through exciting virtual field trips. They then delved into basic computer skills with interactive drag-and-drop puzzles, building a solid foundation for advanced learning. As the days progressed, students tackled fun tasks like guiding characters through mazes and engaging in pair programming and debugging exercises, which boosted their problem-solving and teamwork skills. The grand finale had students applying their advanced programming skills to navigate complex courses with characters like Rey and BB8, cementing their confidence and proficiency in coding.

Meet Payal Das, a 9-year-old student from Boriadih village, Jharkhand. Her father works as a daily laborer, and her mother is part of a Self-Help Group. Payal dreams of becoming a doctor and enjoys drawing.

At school, Payal found subjects like Math and English challenging. She joined Gyantantra classes at Literacy India to learn coding. It was her first-time using tablets and laptops.

Through coding module at Gyantantra, Payal learned to drag and drop, sequence, and program with characters like Scrat and Rey. She was able to develop understanding of loops which is not easy for everyone to understand. This helped her do better in school and boosted her confidence.

Coding taught Payal problem-solving and thinking logically. She also learned to work with others on projects. It helped her see how important these skills are for her dream of becoming a doctor.

Santosh Bai, a 30-year-old resident of Indore village, completed her education up to the 6th grade but was determined to improve her family’s livelihood. Two years ago, she became involved with Literacy India. We introduced a kitchen garden project in her village, teaching organic and sustainable farming techniques.

Santosh’s participation in this project marked a significant turning point in her life. She learned various techniques for organic farming, including composting, natural pest control, and cultivating a variety of vegetables. Over the past two years, Santosh has successfully implemented these techniques in her own garden, producing a steady supply of fresh, organic vegetables for her family, improving their diet and overall health.

The success of her kitchen garden has had a ripple effect in her community. Santosh has become a role model for other women in her village, inspiring them to participate in the kitchen garden project and adopt organic farming practices.
