In partnership with Dell Technologies, Literacy India embarked on a transformative journey to empower rural youth and women through its Common Service Center (CSC) initiative. This program was designed to bridge the digital and financial gaps in underserved communities, equipping individuals with the necessary tools and training to establish CSCs as hubs for essential services. These centers provide services such as Aadhaar updates, online payments, and customized business solutions.
The initiative extended across ten districts in four states, mobilizing and training around 45 participants. The journey began with field coordinators identifying beneficiaries and guiding them through registration processes. Provided with laptops and computers, the beneficiaries underwent rigorous training on CSC operations. A five-day entrepreneurial workshop, Mera Business, provided practical knowledge on ideation, budgeting, marketing, and the use of digital tools like Canva, Wix, and ChatGPT. The program not only imparted technical skills but also encouraged participants to think innovatively and set tangible financial and personal goals.
Today, the participants are running thriving businesses. Some have ventured into printing banners, ID cards, and photo frames, while also offering CSC services to their communities. It has impacted local economies, with each center serving thousands of residents, showcasing how technology and entrepreneurship can be harnessed to transform lives and create self-reliant communities.
At Literacy India, theatre is not merely a medium of artistic expression but a vital tool for holistic learning and empowerment. The Theatre in Education program serves as a transformative platform, fostering creativity, communication, and teamwork among students, many of whom come from underprivileged backgrounds. Theatre nurtures their self-confidence, strengthens their problem-solving abilities, and prepares them to navigate life with resilience and purpose.
This year, Literacy India presented Door Ke Darshan, a unique play that blended timeless tales of wisdom with contemporary themes. The narrative drew inspiration from the legendary Tenali Rama and Birbal, weaving in modern aspirations and challenges. The performance highlighted the importance of self-worth, perseverance, and the joy of learning.
For these children, the stage becomes a safe space to discover their potential and overcome fears. While a few may pursue careers in acting, the primary goal remains much broader—to equip them with skills such as discipline, creativity, and teamwork that prepare them for life. The Theatre in Education program ensures that every child, regardless of their background, can dream big and achieve those dreams.

His natural talent shone in theatre, where he played “Rancho,” captivating audiences in his debut after weeks of practice. Arun excels academically, scoring 61.5% in his half-yearly exams, and demonstrates maturity by promptly reporting issues to teachers. Supported by his hardworking parents, through theatre, Arun not only improved his discipline and confidence but also discovered a creative outlet, proving that the arts can empower young minds and unlock their true potential.
Nawal Kumar Sharma, a 22-year-old BSc student from Bokaro Steel City, turned his challenges into opportunities through education and entrepreneurship. After completing Literacy India’s CCA computer course, he received CSC exam preparation training and attended a business workshop. With this support, Nawal established a government-sanctioned Common Service Center (CSC) in his village, Dhobani, where infrastructure was limited. He shares, “When I first joined CCA in 2021, I had no knowledge of computers. However, through the training and the support of the CSC program, including the laptop, printer, and entrepreneurship workshops, my skills improved. I started working full-time as an Accountant and expanded my CSC services, offering photo printing, certificate printing, and filling out competitive exam forms. With the support of Literacy India, I’ve been able to build my career and plan to continue growing with services like life insurance.”
