Why Aarogyam?
- Aarogyam was created to address a simple yet powerful idea: education and health must go hand in hand.
- Many families we work with face harsh financial realities and limited access to medical care.
- Through collaboration with hospitals, healthcare NGOs, and generous individuals, Literacy India opens its centres to host health camps, awareness drives, and diagnostic interventions throughout the year.
Smart Intervention: Health ATM
- In 2023, we introduced Health ATMs—cloud-based diagnostic kiosks installed in our centres and school campuses.
- These devices perform instant, vital tests such as hemoglobin levels, BP, and sugar checks, especially targeting school-going children and adolescent girls. This proactive step is helping us detect silent conditions before they become life-threatening.
- Anjali’s Story: A Diagnosis in Time. Anjali, an energetic student and music enthusiast, had suffered unknowingly from severe anemia for years. A simple test through the Health ATM revealed her hemoglobin was dangerously low—just 3.
- Further diagnosis confirmed Thalassemia, a life-threatening condition. Thanks to swift referral and cost coverage by Literacy India, Anjali now receives regular transfusions and is on the path to better health.

- After a road accident fractured his thigh bone, young Deepak’s future looked uncertain. His parents couldn’t afford surgery.
