Introduction & Overview
Literacy India’s Tribal Empowerment initiative is dedicated to uplifting tribal communities in regions like Purulia (West Bengal), Ladakh, and Jhalawar (Rajasthan).
The program focuses on enhancing education, providing livelihood opportunities, and empowering communities to become self-sufficient.
By integrating ICT-based education, skill development, and sustainable agricultural practices, the project aims to create long-term change. Special efforts are made to curb migration, improve livelihoods, and preserve the cultural heritage of these underserved regions.

- Purulia, West Bengal: Remote villages like Lowakui, Charida, Suisa, and Munnibera.
- Ladakh: Schools in partnership with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council.
- Jhalawar, Rajasthan: Empowering communities to address livelihood challenges.
Educational Interventions
- Implementation of Gyantantra Udbhav (Digital Dost) in government schools to improve learning outcomes in subjects like English, Mathematics, and General Studies.
- Establishment of computer labs with support from Dell India.
- Active supervision and progress monitoring in schools, resulting in significant academic improvements.
Preventive Healthcare Awareness
- Personal hygiene and sanitation.
- Importance of clean drinking water.
- Preventing communicable diseases in rural areas.
Sustainable Livelihood Creation
- Training programs for organic farming, multicropping, and livestock management.
- Formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Kisan Clubs.
