As board exams come to a close across the country ,we bring you stories of quiet determination and big dreams from Literacy India. These are not just exam results — they are milestones in lives shaped by resilience, family struggles, and timely support. Each story is a reminder that when opportunity meets effort, young lives blossom against all odds.

From the quiet village of Gobindapur, Sima Kumar’s journey is one of grit, guidance, and grace. Born to a farmer father and a homemaker mother, Sima’s world was modest but full of dreams. Enrolled early in Literacy India’s Gurukul Project, she and her sister Anima received not just academic support, but the confidence to aim high.

Sima’s breakthrough came in Class 10—scoring an outstanding 623/700 (89%). Her choice to pursue Science at Purulia Govt. Girls’ High School was bold, but her resolve was bolder. Gurukul stood by her with books, mentorship, and belief.

This year, Sima appeared for her Class 12 boards and shone again—scoring 82% overall, with a brilliant 90/100 in both Mathematics and English.

Her success is more than a report card. It’s proof that girls from rural India, with the right push, can rise to become torchbearers for their communities.

Sima’s story is not just about marks—it’s about the quiet power of education to uplift, empower, and inspire.

Nisha, a 15-year-old from Bajghera village, Gurgaon, carries a spark that outshines her modest surroundings. Her father works as a driver, her mother is a homemaker, and her younger brother studies in Class 8.Despite limited means, Nisha has always been curious, focused, and deeply committed to learning. Currently she is promoted to Class 11, she has consistently excelled in academics, with Science being her favorite subject. Her hard work bore fruit when she scored a remarkable 92% in Science in her Class 10 Board Exams. Determined to pursue her passion, she chose the Science stream for higher studies.

But Nisha’s learning journey isn’t confined to the classroom. She actively participates in programs like KPMG`s ASPIRE program the mentors talented students. She represented her school at the World Robotics Championship, presenting projects like “Smart Gardening” and “Fastest Line Followers.” Besides STEM, She strengthened her skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Nisha also finds joy in creative pursuits like rangoli and poster-making. Her story is one of resilience and quiet ambition—showing how, with the right support, a young girl can rise above circumstance and dream beyond limits.

Ambika Hembram, a bright student from the Santal tribal community in Jharna village, Bokaro district, Jhanrkhand has defied the odds through sheer perseverance. Her father is a farmer, her mother a homemaker, and though the family’s means are modest, they have always believed in the power of education. Ambika’s journey began at Literacy India’s Jharna School, where she stood out for her curiosity, discipline, and active participation in academics and extracurriculars.

In a community where many girls drop out early, Ambika remained focused, driven by the dream of a better future. Her hard work bore fruit when she secured 86.6% in her Class 10 Board Exams—scoring 91 in Maths and Hindi, and 90 in Science.

With aspirations to pursue a polytechnic diploma and become an engineer, Ambika hopes to uplift her family and inspire other girls in her village. Her journey is a testament to what consistent support, strong will, and inclusive education can achieve.

“I want to help my family and inspire other girls to never give up on education,” says Ambika— a true beacon of hope from rural Jharkhand.

Sahiba, a 17-year-old from Bajghera Village, is adynamic and driven student who has grown with Literacy India since her LKG days under Project Vidyapeeth Daughter of a welder and a homemaker, Sahiba has faced financial hardships with quiet strength and unwavering focus. In her Class10 boards, she scored 84%, with a brilliant 96 in Science. Though she once dreamed of pursuing Science, she thoughtfully chose Commerce with Maths, realising her strengths lay elsewhere.

A proud Aspire participant and STEM learner, Sahibahas mastered MS-Excel and PowerPoint and even led her team to a win at KPMG’s Green Dream City science competition. Her creativity shines through painting, singing, and theatre, where she overcame stage fright and emerged as a confident performer.

She led a mock election campaign as head of “Ugta Suraj” and now mentors younger students, showing leadership beyond academics. Inspired by Actuarial Science, and exploring AI and Data Science, she’s keeping her mind open and dreams big—with purpose.

Sahiba’s story reminds us that education, exposure, and resilience can truly shape a changemaker, even from the most modest of beginnings.

Aarti, a 16-year-old from Ambedkar Colony, Bijwasan, is charting a determined path toward her dream of becoming a software engineer.

Her journey began in Class 6 with Literacy India’s Sampurna Shiksha program. Shy and with average grades, she had little exposure to technology. But over three years, the program nurtured her confidence, communication skills, and love for learning. Aarti’s spark was ignited when shee xplored basic computer training—realizing she didn’t just want to use computers, she wanted to create them.

Despite limited resources and social expectations, Aarti stayed focused. Her persistence paid off—she scored 80.4% in her Class 10board exams. Her younger sister followed the same path, and together they inspire many in their community.

Today, Aarti dreams of designing software that improves lives. Her story is not just about one girl—it’s about the impact of support, belief, and the power of opportunity.
