Fifteen-year-old Muskaan wanted to study but could not. She spent several years taking care of her younger siblings and helping out at home. However, at the age of 15 she decided that she wanted to study. She joined Literacy India with almost no formal training and slowly began to work her way up.

Muskaan worked hard in the programme but also began taking tuitions. Her friends in school also helped her by giving her books and assistance whenever she needed it. She improved and her skills developed quite quickly. In her free time Muskaan loves to sing. It is her dream to become a singer.
