For over a decade, Literacy India has been working in Bokaro’s tribal belt, building opportunities where access to quality education, skills, and livelihood pathways has traditionally been limited. Through its Jharna Community Centres, the organisation has become a trusted partner in the lives of children, youth, and women across more than 20 surrounding villages.
Located within one of India’s aspirational districts identified by NITI Aayog, Bokaro presents both immense potential and significant challenges. Limited digital exposure, learning gaps, and restricted livelihood opportunities have often prevented young people from imagining futures beyond their immediate surroundings.
Today that narrative is changing
Every day, more than 600 community members walk through Literacy India’s learning spaces, engaging with smart classrooms, STEM activities, communication workshops, digital learning modules, sports programmes, and vocational-skills training. What begins as learning often evolves into something deeper: confidence, ambition, and the courage to dream.
Teachers and community leaders speak of a visible transformation. Children who once hesitated to speak now confidently present ideas. Young women are exploring technical trades and higher education. Youth are considering entrepreneurship, skilled employment, and careers beyond their villages.
The change is not merely educational—it is aspirational. Across Bokaro, young people are discovering possibilities they had never imagined before.
As Literacy India looks ahead, the focus remains on expanding advanced skill-development programmes, strengthening placement and market linkages, increasing girls’ participation in technical education, and building sustainable livelihood opportunities that allow communities to thrive from within.
A Year of Achievement: Bokaro Students Shine in the 2026 Board Examinations
The 2026 Class 10 results from the Jharkhand Academic Council reflect the growing impact of Literacy India’s Pathshala Centres across Bokaro’s tribal belt. Through a blend of technology-enabled learning, STEM exposure, language development, smart classrooms, audio-visual content, quarterly learning challenges, and continuous mentoring, students are not only improving academically but also developing confidence, curiosity, and aspirations for the future.
Behind every result is a story of transformation powered by learning, opportunity, and belief.
Ashish Mahatha: Discovering Excellence Through Smart Learning
For Ashish Mahatha of Brahman Laghla village, learning became more than textbooks and examinations when he joined Literacy India’s Pathshala Centre.
While Ashish was always sincere and hardworking, the introduction of smart-learning classes, audio-visual lessons, STEM activities, and problem-solving challenges helped him approach learning differently. Mathematics, in particular, became a subject he began to enjoy rather than merely study. Interactive content enabled him to visualise concepts, while regular assessments and quarterly challenges pushed him to test his abilities beyond the classroom curriculum.
The Pathshala environment encouraged students to ask questions, think critically, and compete with themselves. Ashish embraced every opportunity. His natural aptitude, combined with structured academic support and technology-enabled learning, helped him strengthen his conceptual understanding and academic performance.
The results speak for themselves. Ashish secured 90% in his Class 10 examinations, scoring an exceptional 98 in Mathematics and emerging as the highest scorer in Hindi as well.
Today, he is preparing for polytechnic entrance examinations and hopes to pursue engineering. His journey demonstrates how the right learning environment can transform potential into achievement.
Beauty Kumari: From a Quiet Student to a Confident Achiever
When Beauty Kumari first walked into Literacy India’s Pathshala Centre, she rarely spoke in class. Like many girls from rural communities, she lacked exposure to technology, public speaking, and experiential learning opportunities.
The Pathshala Centre gradually became a space where she could explore, participate, and discover her strengths.
Through STEM activities, language-learning programmes, literature sessions, group projects, presentations, and quarterly challenges, Beauty was encouraged to step beyond her comfort zone. Interactive learning methods made lessons engaging, while supportive mentors helped her develop confidence in expressing her ideas.
Participating in STEM activities was particularly transformative. Solving problems, working in teams, and presenting projects helped Beauty realise that learning was not about memorising answers but about thinking, questioning, and creating solutions.
Alongside academic improvement, her communication skills and self-belief flourished. She began participating more actively in discussions, taking initiative in classroom activities, and inspiring other girls around her.
In her Class 10 examinations, Beauty secured 82.8%, including an outstanding 93 in Social Science and strong scores across subjects.
Today, she is pursuing admission to Class 11 with Biology and dreams of building a career in healthcare. Her story reflects the power of holistic education—where confidence grows alongside academic success and aspirations begin to take shape.
One student, one family, one village at a time, aspirations are turning into achievements—and dreams are learning to fly.
“These are just a few stories from the ground. Behind them are hundreds of young minds learning, growing, and daring to dream bigger. Join us in making the next success story possible.”
